This year

  • 22 students with EHC plans (has been as high as 40 in one year)

No cap/limit for EHCP students

  • SEND across the School - 11.4%. This is lower than the national average (14%)

  • Big thing at the moment is SEND students that do not attend school. This is happening in unforeseen numbers. (Knock-on effect from covid?)

1.24 - Special educational provision is underpinned by high quality teaching and is compromised by anything less (p14)


3.36 - Teachers are responsible and accountable for the progress and development of the pupils in their class


Hardest part of A SENCo's job - 'fighting against the parent, mediating between the needs of all students and the individual students.'


It is a hard job, so its not reccomended to do it early in your career as a teacher.
